Will Nationalism Defeat Globalism in the Upcoming Years?
Many national traditions and cultural heritage are created by people from other countries or even originated from other continents. Therefore, nationalists take pride in their nation due to global influence and interference. In my opinion, nationalism and globalism are deeply interconnected and interdependent: only by participating in globalization can nations realize their veritable strength and comparative advantages.
With sound evidence, I affirm that while people take pride in their nationality, they are contemporaneously happy to be part of the world community. For years, according to statistics from the World Value Survey (WVS) 2010- 2014 that the author mentioned, more than 88.5% said that they were “very proud” or “quite proud” of their country. Still, out of the nearly 90,000 people surveyed, up to 71% agreed that “I am a citizen of the world”. Accordingly, being a patriot does not mean we have to denounce globalism.
