What’s Inside Russia’s COVID-19 Vaccine Factory?

The only production site for the COVID-19 “Sputnik V” vaccine in Russia is the Binnopharm pharmaceutical factory of AFK Sistema Financial Group, located in the city of Zelenograd, a suburb of Moscow.

After Russia announced that it had developed the world’s first COVID-19 vaccine and will ship the first batches within the next two weeks, Chinanews published pictures of where the vaccine was made.

It is the Binnopharm factory in the city of Zelenograd, located on the outskirts of Moscow. It is known that the vaccine “Sputnik V” was researched and developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute in collaboration with the Russian Defense Ministry, undergone two trials on volunteers and showed active immunity to coronavirus new strain — according to the Russian Ministry of Health.

The Russian COVID-19 vaccine remains on the WHO phase 1 clinical trial list.

However, Alexander Ginsburg, director of the Gamaleya National Research Center, said the vaccine would be useful in protecting people from the risk of being infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus for at least two years.
